SOCIAL PRESCRIBING

What is Social Prescribing?

People are healthier when they are connected to resources and supports in their communities. These supports must address not only physical health, but also social and emotional well-being.  Nature engagement, the arts, social opportunities, volunteerism – all of these contribute to fostering community belonging. Social prescribing aims to connect individuals with community resources that promote active participation. This activity improves long term health, in turn assisting to reduce the burden on the health care system.
