150 Banners for 150 Years

For the past 26 years, the Campbell River Arts Council has brought creativity to the streets of Campbell River by partnering with local schools and community groups to create beautiful art banners for lamp posts around town. This project has been an opportunity for students and artists to reflect back to us the beauty and uniqueness of our local community.

The following schools participated this year: Carihi Secondary, Ecole Willow Point Elementary, Penfield Elementary, Pinecrest Elementary, Sandowne Elementary, Ripple Rock Elementary, Robron Centre, Southgate Middle School, and Georgia Park Elementary. Many groups, artists and individuals have participated as well. We were especially pleased to have family groups participate it the Canada Long Weekend paint-out in Willow Point. Definitely a great way to celebrate Canada 150.

This year, you will see 150 banners to celebrate Canada turning 150 years old, featuring a variety of expressions of what it means to live in Canada.

The Arts Council provides creative programming through which individual artists and groups are able to contribute to our regions overall quality of life.
