The 34th Annual Members’ Exhibition (2016)
The Annual Members’ Exhibition is a celebration of the visual arts community on North Vancouver Island. The exhibition comprises original art work created by a diverse group of artists who are members of the Campbell River Art Gallery and Campbell River Arts Council.
The Campbell River Arts Council is committed to fostering community partnerships that contribute to creating an enriched and progressive quality of life in Campbell River. These partnerships recognize the essential role of the arts in promoting positive economic, social and cultural development for the entire community. The Campbell River Community Arts Council was established in 1970. In1982 the Arts Council was responsible for establishing the Annual Members’ Exhibition. In September of 1994 the Arts Council established Campbell River’s first public Art Gallery, which hosted the 13th Annual Member’s Exhibition in January of 1995. Today the Arts Council runs a wide range of activities and programs including the Community Banner Project, the Art in Health Initiative, Music for Health, Crow Theatre and Arts Based Community Development (ABCD) programs. In addition, the Arts Council manages the Sybil Andrews Cottage and Walter Morgan Studio. The Arts Council continues to lead in the artistic development of Campbell River and encourages inclusive community participation in all of its programming.
This 34th Annual Members’ Exhibition was a success with 70 entries received. This year the Art Gallery and Arts Council decided not to have jurors. Instead people visiting the exhibition can make their own choices. These awards will be given at the end of the Exhibition.
Awards were generously donated by Impressions Art Gallery, Pier Street Art Gallery, Photo Tech, and the Museum at Campbell River.
